Director of Events & Logistics
Virginia Amateur Sports (VAS), a Roanoke based non-profit organization, organizers of the Virginia Commonwealth Games and several other sport-based events throughout Virginia annually, is searching for an innovative, self-driven, results and sports oriented person to oversee the logistics of the organization’s various sport competitions and special events. This position will include the successful organization, planning and implementation of the Virginia Commonwealth Games sports and a number of other Special Events. This individual will be actively involved in the recruiting of volunteers, as well as working closely with the local municipal Parks and Recreation Departments, securing sport facilities, developing sports schedules and maintaining records for the organization.
The successful candidate will be a self motivated professional individual with a passion for sports, people and organizing/planning.

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability and experience in managing large events and coordinating multiple activities and resource groups
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational project planning and time management skills
- Intermediate level skills in using standard office software, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Intermediate level skills in managing social media and standard web sites
- Data management and reporting skills highly desirable
- Experience in delegating activities and coordinating various volunteer groups
- Able to work with a diverse collection of people
